Academy Facilitator Training Program
The facilitator role is a key component of The Academy and drives our progress towards positioning it as an educational leader in CRE.
-
Facilitators guide Academy students through classes to accomplish weekly learning objectives. This involves making class announcements, fielding student questions, interviewing guest speakers, facilitating in-class activities, and facilitating guest speaker Q&A sessions. If the facilitator manages time effectively and fosters an engaging learning environment, students will leave class with a better understanding of the week’s material.
-
In addition to supporting our organizational goals, you will participate in a valuable professional development opportunity. The knowledge gained through facilitation will improve your public speaking, your ability to communicate complex ideas, and your ability to manage meetings and projects. These skills will serve you beyond your time with The Academy and will improve your individual contributions to any team.
-
Here are the key traits we look for in potential trainees:
Coachability
Active listening
Collaboration
Tech savviness
Preparation
Time management
If you embody these traits we encourage you to participate in the program.
-
To serve as a facilitator you must be nominated (nomination form) and receive approval from your manager. Once approved, you will participate in training and then facilitate one class a week for the following two semesters.
-
Facilitator training is a 6 week program. It consists of the following:
Week 1: Training Kick-Off (~5 hours total)
Weeks 2-6: Shadowing, Practicing, and Co-Facilitating (~1 hour per week)
Total training time commitment: ~10 hours over 6 weeks
-
Once fully trained, you are expected to facilitate one class for the next two semesters. Classes are an hour long and runs for 8 weeks.
